How do I know if my masonry project can be repaired, or if it needs to be rebuilt?
K & G Masonry always has a qualified mason evaluate your residential masonry project. Sometimes we will conduct this process by having you send photos, and sometimes we will send a mason to your service address to take a look. Once we are satisfied we have the information we need, we will send you a proposal via email with a write-up of what we think needs doing. Some projects might have multiple approaches, and usually we will let you know what options you have. Please absolutely call us to talk about your proposal after you receive it if you have any further questions or concerns; we are always glad to help.
What can I expect from the process once I contact K & G Masonry?
First, we will get back to you to get the information we need for our estimation process. Sometimes we will ask for photos of your project area. Often, we will schedule for a mason to come out and take a look.
Next, we will email you a proposal with an explanation of the work we will do, and how much it will cost. You can take some time to review the proposal, and contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
Once you are happy with your proposal, we will arrange scheduling together, and complete the contract form that will be attached to your proposal. You will usually be required to pay a 30% deposit after your consumer right to cancellation period has elapsed.
If we have the opportunity to bump your service up, we may contact you to discuss it with you. Otherwise, we will begin work on the date we worked out during the contract process. Once the work is complete, we will send you an invoice for the remaining amount, which will be the number originally listed on your proposal minus your deposit. You will have 30 days from when you receive your invoice to pay us using the instructions on your invoice.
If after your service you are at all dissatisfied, please absolutely contact us and let us know. We care a lot about the quality of our work and about each of our clients finishing service with a result they are happy with.
Also, we would greatly appreciate it if you could take the time to leave us a google review 🙂
How soon can my project start?
It depends strongly on time of year, the complexity of the project, how promptly we can get arranged, and the current workload.
If you have specific scheduling concerns, please discuss them during your initial contact with us. We are often able to be accommodating of these types of concerns, especially if we are able to get through the estimating and contracting process expediently.
What causes chimney damage, and can I do anything to prevent it?
Most chimney damage is actually caused by water; when a chimney is not properly waterproofed, water can get into the brick and the mortar easily. It causes erosion of materials in the mortar, and then also causes freeze-thaw cracking, the same as how a pothole forms on the road.
K & G Masonry offers a relatively inexpensive add-on to most exterior services for waterproofing; we use a water-based siloxane product with a 10-year manufacturer guarantee. It works by soaking into the masonry. The coating is semi-permeable, allowing water vapors to escape, but repelling liquid water. This waterproofing is a phenomenal product that does actually extend the life of your exterior masonry.
